| La palabra BORICUA se deriva del nombre dado a la isla de Puerto Rico por los nativos de la región del Caribe: BORIKÉN. Durante la colonización, la isla fue llamda San Juan Bautista, con su capital, Puerto Rico. Es entonces que se decide intercambiar los nombres, donde la Capital pasa a ser llamada San Juan y la isla entera recibe el nombre de PUERTO RICO. Los Puertorriqueos han mantenido la palabra Boricua viva de generación en generación con mucho orgullo. Boricua is a word derived from the name given to the island of Puerto Rico by the natives from the Caribbean: BORIKÉN. During the colonization, the island was named SAN JUAN the Baptist, with its capitol: Puerto Rico (Rich Port). IT is then that both names are switched and the capitol becomes San Juan, and the Island is named officially PUERTO RICO. Puertorricans have kept the word BORICUA from generation to generation with lots of pride. |

| La CULTURA es el conjunto de símbolos, valores, normas, actitudes, creencias, idiomas, costumbres, ritos, hábitos, capacidades, educación, moral, arte, etc. asi como objetos tales como vestimenta, vivienda, productos, agricultura, herramientas, etc. que son aprendidos, compartidos y transmitidos de una generación a otra por los miembros de una sociedad. La Cultura es el factor que determina, regula y moldea la conducta humana. Culture is the gathering of symbols, values, rules, attitudes, beliefs, idioms and languages, customs, rites, habits, capabilities, education, moral, art ect., and objects like clothing, housing, products, art objects, tools etc, that are learned and shared from generation to generation by the members of society. Culture is the factor that determines rules and molds the human conduct. |
